If a company is dissolved, can you use that company's name?

I’d like to set up a new limited company, and have my heart set on a name that was used by an old company that dissolved a few years back. So long as it’s dissolved, am I allowed to use its name? Or is it still off limits? Thanks

Yes, you can register a new company with the name of any dissolved limited company. Before doing so, check that the dissolved company does not have a negative reputation or bad credit file because this could impact your new business simply through association.

To find out if a company name is available to register, you should visit the website of an company formation agent and use one of their free online name-checkers.
