Hi,

You should sign up for an online HMRC account as registering for VAT does not allow us to set up an online account or order VAT Certificate for any of our clients. You can sign up here.

  • On this page you should select the option “I want to sign up to use the online service for a tax for which the business is already registered” and proceed from there.
  • On the next page you would select the option “Organisation”.
  • On the following page entitled “New User” you will always select the option “VAT (submit return or change details)” but there are other options which you should review and consider if they will be applicable to your company before completing that page.

After completing the above pages you will require to input following information to be able to setup an online HMRC account:

  • VAT Number
  • Date of Registration
  • Month of Last Return NA
  • Box 5 Figure 0.0
  • Postcode

We would advise that you sign up for HMRC’s online VAT services next week as HMRC updates its VAT Registrations every weekend so if you sign up for online VAT in the week the VAT Registration has been approved, HMRC’s system may show you an error message.

Hope this helps.
