Can a company keep its name after it has been struck off the register?

I was in charge of a limited by shares company that was struck off the register last year. Things are starting to bounce back, and I would like to continue doing business under the same name. Is that possible?

Yes, you can trade under the name of any dissolved limited company but make sure the name has not been registered as a trademark, otherwise you may not be able to use it. You should also check if it is available as a domain name.

Please bear in mind: you can only protect a business name if it is registered as a trademark or registered with Companies House as a limited company. The name will not be protected if you just start trading as a sole trader under that name - someone else could simply set up a limited company with the name whenever they please.
