Do dormant companies have to pay taxes?

Hey, quick question: do dormant companies have to pay taxes? I don’t really see why they would, because no money is going into a dormant company, right? And if no money is going in, what is there to tax? Cheers

A dormant company does not have to pay any business taxes because there should not be any money being spent or received by the business. As soon as any business activity or financial transaction does takes place, the company will cease to be dormant and will be liable for tax.

The only time a dormant company would have to pay tax is if it had traded before it became dormant - the company would have to pay tax and file a tax return with HMRC for that earlier period of activity.
