Do dormant companies have company registration numbers?

I have just started filing an application to set up a dormant limited company, and I have caught myself musing some questions. Namely, do company registration numbers work the same with dormant companies as they do with active limited companies? By that, I’m pretty much just wondering whether my dormant company will have a CRN, or whether it will be identified by something else.

All limited companies have registration numbers, regardless of whether they are ‘active’ or ‘dormant’ for trading purposes - once a company is incorporated at Companies House, it remains in existence and retains its registration number forever.

A dormant company can be identified as such by the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code displayed on public record where it states the nature of the company’s business activities - 99999 is the SIC code for dormant companies.
