Do dormant companies need a registered office address?

I’ve been advised to open a dormant company, but I’m a bit confused by how this all works. So, if I register a company as dormant, that means it’s not trading. And if it’s not trading, do I actually need a registered office address? It seems a bit pointless to have one if the company isn't doing anything.

Yes, every single company that is incorporated at Companies House requires a registered office address, regardless of whether it is dormant or active.

This address will be used by Companies House and HMRC to send official correspondence about filing deadlines, reporting requirements and other important information you need to be aware of.
