What happens after my company has been dissolved?

Okay, so this will sound like a super broad question - because it is. I need to dissolve my company immediately. We want to stop trading and shut everything down. After I file all of the right paperwork, what will happen? Do I need to do anything else, or is that us done?

After your company has been officially dissolved, a notification will be published in your local Gazette to confirm its closure. Companies House will update the public register to state that your company has been dissolved. The name of your company will then be available for someone else to register.

All you’re required to do is retain your business documents for 7 years and keep your Employers’ Liability insurance policy and schedule for 40 years. It is unlikely that you will ever need these documents, but you are legally required to hold onto them.
