Do I need anyone's permission to dissolve my company?

Hello, I own a limited company. I am the sole shareholder and the only director. I would like to dissolve. Do I need anyone’s permission to do this, even though I’m the only person with a stake in the company?

You do not need permission from anyone else to dissolve a company if you are the sole shareholder and director.

If your company is solvent, you can either file form DS01 with Companies House to have the company struck off the register, or you can start a members’ voluntary liquidation.

If the company is insolvent (unable to pay its bills), you will have to use the creditors’ voluntary liquidation process.
