Can I use the word 'European' in my company name?

0

Hi, I’m trying to get together a limited by shares company in the UK. I am wondering, though, whether I am allowed to use the word “european” in my company name. It will be an imports business, and so we’ll be doing quite a lot of business through the continent, hence our interest in using “european” in our name. Am I allowed to do so?

That’s not a problem, you can use the word ‘European’ somewhere in your company name. This inclusion of this word was restricted until recently but it has since been removed from the list of ‘sensitive’ words and expressions.

The changes to company and business name regulations came into force on 31st January 2015. You can find out more about these changes here.
