Hi, how do I get my company's UTR number?
When did you register your company?
Several weeks ago. Is my UTR number the same as my company registration number?
No, the Company Registration Number (CRN) is an 8 digit number issued by Companies House whereas the UTR number is a 10-digit number issued by HMRC.
Read this and this
HMRC post a letter to you called a “CT41G” which relates to Corporation Tax and contains your UTR Number.
If you do not receive this letter within 3 weeks of the company’s date of incorporation for whatever reason, then the only way to obtain the number is by calling HMRC on 0300 200 3410.
HMRC will not give the UTR number out over the telephone and will only send the new letter to your Registered office address.
I already have a UTR number prior to registering my company – will it be the same number for my company?
No, HMRC will issue a new UTR number for your company.
It's a 10-digit number used to identify you with HMRC for all tax obligations. You can find it in letters you receive from HMRC, e.g.:
I am trying to get my uti number
Please send me my UTR number
