Do companies limited by guarantee need certificates of good standing?

0

Good morning

If I were to open up a limited by guarantee company and wanted to set up shop abroad, would I need to obtain a certificate of good standing in the same way that a limited by shares company would be expected to obtain one?

Cheers

Hi Thomas,

You will most likely require a certificate of good standing for your limited by guarantee company if you want to set up overseas. Most foreign banks, rental agencies and official authorities will want to see a certificate to ensure that your company is dependable and credible.

If a certificate of good standing is requested, it may also have to be legalised for use overseas. This involves obtaining an apostille certificate to authenticate the signature on the certificate and the issuing registrar.

Hope this helps.
