Why would I use an apostilled document?

I am forming a company online, and I am being prompted to purchase an apostilled document. I don’t really understand why. Why would I actually need to use an apostilled document?

Hi Sam,

You will only require apostille certificates for your company documents if you plan to use them for official purposes outside the UK. This situation may arise if you wish to do business overseas or set up a non-UK business bank account.

If you do not plan to operate outside the UK at the present time, decline the offer of an apostille certificate because it is an unnecessary expense. You can easily get your company documents legalised at a later date if need be. It only takes 1-2 days to arrange.
