What does ‘apostille’ mean?



Could someone please advise me what it means to “apostille” a document? I am unsure whether this applies to me and my business.

‘Apostille’ is the name of the certificate that is attached to an official document that has been legalised for international use. You will only require an apostille certificate for your company documents if you intend to do business in a foreign country that is party to the Hague Convention.

You can obtain an apostille certificate from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office by applying through GOV.UK or an agency such as Formations Factory.
