Who can be a sole trader?

I’d just like to know whether their any restrictions at all relating to who can be a sole trader? For example age, country of residence and so on? Thank you for your input, guys!!

Anyone can set up a business as a sole trader, as long as they are at least 16 years old and legally reside in the United Kingdom. HMRC requires a National Insurance Number to be provided during the sole trader registration process - an NI number is only issued to UK residents when they reach the age of 16.
