Do sole traders need to file annual returns?

Morning guys

I’ve started a business making crafts, so I guess I’m working as a sole trader. I know companies have a lot of filing requirements, but I didn’t know whether the same rule applied for sole traders. Could somebody please let me know whether I need to file annual returns as a sole trader?

No, sole traders do not need to file annual returns at Companies House. This is only a legal requirement of limited companies and limited liability partnerships.

As a sole trader, you only need to register with HMRC for Self-Assessment, file Self-Assessment tax returns, pay Income Tax and National Insurance Contributions and notify HMRC your business details change.
