Do sole traders have shareholders?

Good evening

Just a quick query about sole traders. I know limited companies have got shareholders. What I need to know is whether the same concept applies to sole traders. Any idea?

Thank you

Alexander Hammond

Hi Alexander,

No, sole traders do not have shareholders because there are no shares in this type of business structure Only limited by shares companies have shareholders.

A sole trader is a self-employed individual who owns and operates a small business on their own, but they can hire employees to work for them.
