If you are providing a service address during the company formation process, you will need to enter the full postal address, including the postcode. This information should be entered on the company registration form.
If you wish to change a director’s service address after you have setting up a company, you can do this in one of two ways:
By post or online using Companies House form CH01
You will need to have the following details to hand:
Company name and number
Title and name of director
Month and year of director’s birth
Effective date of change of service address
Full postal address of new service address
Postal forms should be sent to Companies House in Cardiff, Edinburgh or Belfast - it depends where your company is registered. The address details will be updated within 3-5 working days.
Online forms are sent through WebFiling so you will need your email address and password to sign in. The director’s details will be updated within 48 hours.
If you need to register for WebFiling, you will have to provide an email address, create a password, enter your company registration number and request an authentication code. The code will be posted to your registered office. When you receive it, you can sign in and file form CH01.
Online through a company formation agent
If you have an online account with a company formation agent, you can change a director’s service address free of charge by:
Logging into your account with your username and password
Entering the new address for the relevant director
Submitting the information to Companies House electronically.
Most changes are updated on public record within a few hours.
