Why do I need to file an annual return?

Good afternoon

I’m going through this list of filing requirements for my new company, and it’s getting a bit tedious. Could one of you guys please clue me in as to why I have to file an annual return? Like, what exactly is the point?

You need to file an annual return at Companies House to comply with UK company law. The purpose of the return is to confirm the accuracy of the company details that are registered at Companies House and disclosed on public record.

It’s really easy to complete an annual return. You can do it online and it only takes a few minutes. You will be asked to enter a number of key details about your company, including the name, registered office address, details about officers and members and what the company does.
