What information is made available on the Companies House register?

Happy Wednesday!

I need to know something about the UK’s public register of companies. I know certain information is made public on it, but before I register my company and give away private details, I’d like to know what will or will not go on that list. Could someone please give me an outline?

Thank you!

Hi Scott,

The information that will be added to the public register of companies is as follows:

  • Company name
  • Company registration number
  • Company type
  • Date and country of incorporation
  • Trading status of the company
  • Nature of the business
  • Registered office address
  • Single alternative inspection location (SAIL address)
  • Director details:
    • Title and full name
    • Former names
    • Month and year of birth
    • Correspondence address (a.k.a. service address)
    • Nationality
    • Country of residence
    • Occupation
  • Company secretary details - Name and contact address
  • Shareholder/guarantor details - Name and contact address
  • Share capital
  • Filing history - annual accounts, annual returns, change of company details, officer appointments and terminations, charges.
  • Filing deadlines for accounts and returns

All members of the public can access this information online through Companies House Beta or WebCheck service. If you do not want your residential address to be made available to the public, do not use it as a registered office, SAIL address or correspondence address.

Take a look at Companies House personal information charter to find out how they treat your personal details.
