What tasks can I perform on Companies House WebFiling?

I am in need of assistance concerning WebFiling from Companies House. My fellow director has asked me to take care of all the company administration; however I have no clue what WebFiling is even for. What sort of activities can I use WebFiling for?

WebFiling is an online service provided by Companies House that allows you to report company/LLP changes and file information electronically instead of by post. It is a great service and will save you a lot of time and money.

You can use WebFiling to carry out the following tasks:

  • View your company details and filing deadlines
  • Prepare and file annual returns
  • Prepare and file annual accounts
  • Report changes to your company addresses
  • Change details of directors and company secretaries
  • Appoint and terminate directors and secretaries
  • Change your accounting reference date (ARD)
  • Change your company name
  • File a Return of Allotment of Shares
  • Sign up for eReminders for filing deadlines
  • Register and satisfy charges

Most forms are free to file, but you will have to pay a fee to change your company name (£8), file annual returns (£13) and register and satisfy charges (£10). Fees are applicable whether these forms are filed online or by post, but they are significantly cheaper to file online.

It is free to register for WebFiling. You will need to provide an email address, create a password, enter your company registration number and request an authentication code. When you receive your authentication code at your registered office, you will be able sign into WebFiling and access your company details immediately.
